An unexpected last minit visit from the FIL can be quite nerve-wrecking. Thats wat happened over the weekend. He had some issues to discuss with the husband before leaving for JB. But didn't expect the short notice, said he was coming Now since we are home. Quickly changed into something more presentable and decent, within less than 30mins of his phonecall, he was already at our doorstep with his bicycle in tow. after salam-ing and serving him a drink, both father and son had their discussion :p while i made myself busy preparing dinner. then suddenly FIL bersuara frm the living room, "ko masak apa tu jun, nak gak ayah rasa masakan ko tu" (fil is the only one who calls me jun instead of ju) i can already feel the knots forming in my stomach. oh no, not now when i'm only cooking kari sardin n telor and just frying some veges as sidedish. kenapalah he didn't come when i made something more "impressive" lah kononnya? lol. hubby then came to the kitchen and i told him.."alamak bang, tiba2 stress!! pressure." he finds it funny pulak seeing me getting kancheong. kalau arwah MIL ok lah dah biasa last time with her, tu pon if i bring food over to her place, mesti lah lauk yg presentable sikit. and usually those times FIL was not in spore so he didn't get to taste it. so tis was his 1st time and the lauk was not impressive at all i think. altho for hubby, he's more than happy coz its one of his favourite lauk. on top of that FIL is rather direct with his comments too, unlike arwah MIL who is more tactful and beralas sikit..hehe.
Finally when dinner is served, just as expected, when hubby asked how's the food, he said ok lah tapi tawar sikit (referring to the kari),..then he asked me "ko tak makan garam eh jun" adoi..cobaan. hubby came to my rescue and said "mana ada tawar, ayah ni darah tinggi lah, dah biasa makan masin2 bab tu rasa tawar". i then turn to hubby and ask him softly in all honesty to tell me if the lauk is really tawar so that i can add salt accordingly bila panaskan lauk nanti. but he said nope it taste just fine. still not convinced, i taste the lauk myself. my tastebuds must have been confused also from all the stress, coz one moment it feels like its a bit tawar, next moment i feel its ok. so there i was thinking FIL must have been forcing those food down his stomach and not really eating with appetite. When suddenly few minutes later, he asked if he could go for a 2nd helping and proceeded to help himself in the kitchen. kakakakah! hubby then give me the thumbs up and said "i know my dad kalau dia tambah lauk tu maknanya he lauk tu ok. dah takmo sedih2 eh"...phew.
